Min says coal companies lose interest to Taman port project

VLADIVOSTOK, Sep 5 (PRIME) -- The coal companies that received an invitation to an investor consortium for a dry bulk area in the port of Taman in the Krasnodar Region have not responded, Transport Minister Yevgeny Ditrikh told reporters on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum on Thursday.

“This is a delicate issue connected with prices. The colleagues see no opportunity today to sell coal to the West at prices at which the project would pay back… The coal companies have taken a pause, they are not interested in this in today’s situation,” Ditrikh said, adding that negotiations with other investors continue.

The investor pool of the project can be changed, Ditrikh said, adding that grain transshipment facilities can be added.
